The show would go down infamously in history and Down Side Up’s journey would begin. Joe Lawler soon after parted ways\, but will always remain a founding member. In order to prepare for the 7th grade talent show Ryan and Aaron would join forces with friends Jason Kremer (lead guitar) and Adam Buhr (bass). This team in fact did go on to nail their talent show performance and make several house party\, birthday\, and county fair appearances. Freshmen year of high school the band once again parted. Aaron Mankin and Ryan Mankin were soon introduced to Helias High School Senior\, Hunter O’Donnell\, bass player. The three of them and guitarist Jason Kremer once again prepared for yet another talent show but their audition was denied. At the age of 13\, you could find him performing in bars with local adult bands playing guitar\, drums and singing. He paused his public performances after high school\, but never put the guitar down. He was drawn back to the stage in 2012 and has since picked up the mandolin. \nTracy is influenced by a wide variety of musical genres: from punk to country and blues to alt-rock. He is currently a member of Rose Ridge with Jenny Babcock. The duo often shares the stage with Mid Mo’s plethora of fine pickers. Occasionally\, you will find Tracy playing a solo gig. Those are pretty sweet. You should catch one. \nRose Ridge – Tracy Blase & Jenny Babcock \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Rose-Ridge-Feelin-Good-cover-JB-Lenoir.mp3\n  \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Rose-Ridge-Got-Me-A-Woman-cover-Levon-Helm.mp3\n\n\n\n \n

SUMMARY:Crooked Cane & Instrumental Blues Protocol @ The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors @ 6PM \nSHOW @ 8:30 \nCOVER CHARGE $5 \nFACEBOOK {Instrumental Blues Protocol} \nWEBSITE {Instrumental Blues Protocol} \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers of Broken Suns of Karma\, Buried and The Bon Scott 5 unite to deliver ole’ skool\, HEAVY blues-based instrumental rock. Our work includes meticulously chosen\, somewhat obscure cover tunes of a bygone era and original material which we’ll continue to develop. \nCROOKED CANE \nFACEBOOK {Crooked Cane Band} \nWEBSITE {Crooked Cane Band} \nLISTEN!! {Crooked Cane Band} \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrooked Cane came into existence in the fall of 2016\, when BURIED drummer Carlos Sanchez introduced two of his workplace colleagues from the Truman VA Hospital in Columbia\, MO to each other with the intention to start up a blues-rock project. David Bach (guitar\, vocals) and Mike Palmer (keyboards\, vocals) began sharing their backgrounds as songwriters over decades with local and regional touring bands\, and soon concluded that they wanted to showcase their original compositions in this new group. Dr. Sanchez returned to his own group\, and the new project recruited bassist Mike Barnes\, drummer Mark Wilson\, and lead guitarist Andy Parker to round out the lineup. The band began rehearsing material\, drawing from Bach and Palmer’s established catalogs. \nWithin a few weeks after the band began rehearsing\, it faced its first serious hurdle. Mike Barnes suffered a debilitating stroke\, which left him unable to use the left side of his body. Facing a long course of rehabilitation\, Mike nevertheless persisted as a valued member of the band\, remaining as a vocalist and arranger and lending his skills to the band’s studio recording. The band reached out to guitarist/bassist Dale Bassham to assume bass duties for the group. The six-piece group forged ahead with rehearsing\, composing\, and recording\, and the group was prepared to release its first EP in early 2017. An impromptu Facebook poll led to the name Crooked Cane\, and the band subsequently released its debut EP American Sampler. The band began rehearsals for live performance\, and made its live debut at the 2017 MAHD Battle of the Bands. \n2018 brought changes to the band’s lineup\, as Bassham moved out of the area to pursue business opportunities. Wishing him all the best\, the band elected to carry on as a five-piece; Mike Barnes returned to the role of bass player\, performing bass parts with his able right hand on a keyboard. The band went on to perform three more live shows in 2018\, and continued with more live shows and recording throughout 2019 and 2020. \nCrooked Cane released its first full-length self-titled CD in April 2021\, and began booking new shows to support the album’s release. Parker left the band shortly after\, due to family and work obligations. The band has carried on with playing and recording new music since\, with Dave’s son Joshua Bach filling in on lead guitar for the band’s live shows.

With an exciting mix of Punk and Ska\, 4 Skeevy Dudes have started making their mark on the music scene. The lead singer-Trinity\, also known as T to his friends\, fronts this collection of talented artists. The energy and enthusiasm he brings to the stage is infectious as the bare footed front man pours sweat giving all that he has in every song to ensure that the crowd feels the music like intended. Guitarist-Joe with his old school punk thrasher drives the music. He rocks on his low riding guitar slamming the strings with every down stroke\, producing a sound that any punk fan would love. Drummer-Chris pours his heart and sole into every show. Numerous times the drum set is vacated for a quick exhaustion vomit outback and then back on the drums…not missing a beat. Soon after\, they became bandmates\, and the duo began writing songs. In March of 2016 they hooked up with Shane Jenkins on drums\, and a month later Jordan Roedel joined on bass guitar. The first DEGRAVE show with this line-up was May 4th\, 2016. This show was recorded by Jeff Grindstopher\, and turned into the 6 song EP\, Inceptive Sounds.          \nIn between gigs during the months of October/November of 2016\, they set off recording what was to be the first LP\, Full Tilt. Then in December of 2016\, before the album’s release\, Shane Jenkins left the band. In March of 2017\, Jeff Kearney joined the group\, and on April 20th\, 2017 DEGRAVE released Full Tilt.  \nAfter the release of Full Tilt\, DEGRAVE immediately began writing once again. Then\, in December 2017/January 2018\, DEGRAVE jumped back in the studio to record their self-titled second LP\, which was released on July 27th\, 2018.  \nDEGRAVE spent the rest of 2018 and the majority of 2019 playing as many gigs as possible. Then\, in September of 2019\, Jeff Kearney left the band and was temporarily replaced by John Graff. \nIn May of 2020\, Caleb Bethel joined DEGRAVE with his energetic approach and unbound style. SUMMARY:STICKY ICKY - Jenny's Birthday Bash VII
DESCRIPTION:Doors @4PM \nSHOW 9-11PM \nNO COVER – Tips are kindly appreciated! \nMike Sommerer\, Alan Luetkemeyer\, Josh Hamler\, Steve Erangey and Nick Gazca rockin’ it to celebrate Jenny’s birthday. You don’t want to miss this!!!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHailing from the highest hills of impropriety\, Sticky Icky seeks to indulge their audience with smooth and sophisticated versions of favorite songs\, with a twist of imperfect comedy and impromptu jams. Our wall of enchanting and hard pounding guitar riffs is mixed with raucous and rampant vocals\, including barebones 3-part harmonies. Sticky Icky is comprised of acoustic guitarists Mike Cables (Mike) and Rusty Strings (Josh). Leading this vicious pack of heinous hounds on lead vocals is Al Doggy (Al). Our mission is simply to bring people together. So let’s speak\, laugh\, sing\, enjoy and imbibe together. Let the good times roll\, and remember always to Be excellent to each other…\nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Sticky-Icky.mp4 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeing a “Christmas Baby”\, or damn near\, may blur the celebration of holidays for many. For seven years\, skipping one here and there\, STICKY ICKY\, in one form or another\, has honored the day of my birth from The Mission stage. The first year\, 2011\, was a joint celebration with Dave Baker. Jay Pelzer and Tom Reichard also shared the first Sticky Icky/Jenny’s Birthday Bash bill! These folks are my friends. Yes\, I admitted that publicly. LOL! However\, sharing their talent and time during the holiday is greatly appreciated. There is nothing family friendly about the evening\, but laughter rings throughout the night\, the music is stellar and I promise someone will walk through the door you’re happy to see. I’ve missed this birthday celebration the last few years. Join us\, it’s my birthday!! -Jenny Babcock

SUMMARY:Jeremiah Johnson {RETURNS!}
DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm \nSHOW@8pm \nTickets $15 \nTable Reservations $20  SOLD OUT \nFACEBOOK {Jeremiah Johnson} \nWEBSITE {Jeremiah Johnson} \nJeremiah Johnson\nSINGER SONGWRITER – GUITARIST\n \nBorn and raised in St. Louis\, Jeremiah Johnson is the voice of Mississippi River blues blending with the struggles of everyday life. He began learning guitar at age 6\, drawing inspiration from his rich St. Louis blues heritage and legendary guitarists\, like Alvin Lee\, Eric Clapton and Hank Williams Sr. and Jr. With these influences\, Johnson began building his musical foundation.\nAfter relocating to Houston\, TX\, in 1999\, Johnson finished in first place for three consecutive years at the Houston Regional Blues Challenges\, sponsored by the Houston Blues Society. Johnson returned to St. Louis in 2009\, and merged Texas style with STL blues to create the unique sound you hear today. The 10 years Johnson lived and performed in Texas changed his musical style in ways you can still hear in his music today. In 2011\, Johnson was the proud winner of the St. Louis Blues Society IBC Challenge and went on to the semifinals to represent St. Louis in Memphis\, TN. One year later\, Sirius XM’s B.B. King’s Bluesville picked up the Jeremiah Johnson Band\, where they can be heard nationwide\, and they have been playing his music ever since. You can also hear Jeremiah Johnson on Touch Tunes Jukeboxes in bars/clubs across the US and on radio stations around the world. In September 2014\, Johnson filmed his docu-concert\, Ride the Blues\, directed by Australian Producer/Director Gary Glenn\, at the historic Capitol Theater in downtown Burlington\, IA. The film is live music video about Johnson’s rise to prominence\, featuring intimate interview segments\, still photography\, guitar solos and stunning vocals. Donations from concert attendees were generously given to the theater and to the National Blues Museum\, connecting Johnson’s roles of musician and music advocate. 2014 Johnson records Grind\, produced by Devon Allman\, features Grammy award winner Yonrico Scott on drums. Grind has been featured on SiriusXM’s B.B. King’s Bluesville\, and on the international radio show “Confessing the Blues”\, broadcasting on 50 stations in 10 countries worldwide. Grind reached the #8 slot on the Billboard Blues Charts the week of November 7th\, 2015.\nJohnson follows the success of Grind with a self-produced release\, Blues Heart Attack\, released worldwide on July 22\, 2016. This unique record is a blend of Johnson’s entire musical career. “It’s a combination of our earlier works\, and then Grind\,” he explained. “There’s horns and keyboard reminiscent of Brand Spankn’ Blues\, but also some heavy guitar driven tracks. It’s the evolution of everything in a Blues Heart Attack.” Special guest performers include Tom ‘Papa’ Ray on harmonica\, and Nathan Hershey on keys. Blues Heart Attack reached #5 on the Billboard Blues Charts following its release in 2016.\nAfter signing a record deal with Ruf Records in March of 2018\, Jeremiah immediately went to Texas to record his debut Ruf Records release\, Straitjacket\, with BMA award winning Mike Zito producing. Straitjacket debuted #1 on iTunes New Blues Releases and #6 on Billboard Blues Album Chart and has been in the top of the Roots Music Report ever since. After a European tour with Mike Zito in the Beginning of 2019 and then followed by a Northeastern USA tour with Zito again\, Johnson has truly electrified a whole new audience.\nJohnson released\, “Heavens to Betsy”\, his 2nd Ruf Records Release on February 14th\, 2020. Johnson started out 2020 touring with the Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2020 and separately with his band though out 2020. Then the Covid-19 Pandemic shut down the industry worldwide.\nJeremiah Johnson takes the dangers of the COVID-19 virus as seriously as his music career. But no matter how you look at it\, the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has effectively put him out of work. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” is Johnson’s response to the adverse situation. 2020 started the year on a high note when his Ruf Records release\, “Heavens to Betsy”\, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Blues Album charts and soon climbed to the coveted #1 spot by April 11th. With a #1 record and 70+ European Tour dates scheduled with the “2020 Ruf Records Blues Caravan”; Johnson was set to have a breakout year before everything came to a crashing halt. Quarantined at home for months\, Johnson decided it was time to get creative. “Being forced into unemployment has been beyond frustrating. I decided to produce an album of songs inspired by the “Covid-19 Pandemic” and try to turn the roller coaster of emotions into something musical. This is truly a concept album.” Johnson exclaims. The final product is a first-class Blues/Roots Rock record that is packed full of stunning guitar work coupled with soulfully passionate bluesy southern vocals. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” is a striking musical reflection of the times that delivers a message the entire world can relate to.\nReleased on 10/30/2020\, “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” hit #4 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts on 11/14/2020. Giving Johnson the unique honor of having to new releases in 2020 hit the top 5.\nJeremiah Johnson blends the sounds of the south\, with Mississippi River blues and a touch of country flair. Emotionally charged southern blues rock\, powered by the common man’s passion for life and all the struggles in-between. Songs with meaning\, a powerfully persuasive voice and master class musicianship. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” has caught lightning in a bottle with this masterful snapshot of these difficult times and is truly a testament to his talent. Possibly the best record of Johnsons career\, born from the most challenging time in his life as a musician.
