Bring whatya got!\nMinors are welcome\, but will need a parent/guardian to join them.\nEarly Sign Up available for 7:00\, 7:30\, 8:00\, 8:30\, 9:00 and 9:30 through the link below:\n\n \n\nPlease respect your reserved time and arrive 30 minutes ahead of your chosen time.\n\n\n9 Tips to Rock Open Mic\n Featured Article\, How To  Making Music\nAny performer will tell you that you can practice for years in the comfort and privacy of your room\, but it’s not until you take your act to a stage in front of live people that you’ll really hone your craft. If you’re not ready to book shows of your own\, how can you get comfortable on a stage? Open mic events can solve the problem.\n\n\nOpen mic nights serve as incubators for beginning musicians\, or for more practiced types\, they are a great way to test new material before throwing it into a big show. For the totally fresh player\, it can be a daunting experience. Here are 9 tips to rock open mic so you will be prepared to take the stage and get the most out of the experience. \n9 Tips to Rock Open Mic\n1. Know what kind of an open mic it is. Do a little research before you attend the event. Open mics are not universally the same. Some are all acoustic (no microphones or plugged-in instruments); some are coffeehouse-style where people sit in silence listening to players; some are jams where a backing band or equipment might be provided. Make a trip down to the open mic you’ve got in mind before you participate\, or contact the host to get the details. \n2. Everyone at an open mic knows it’s an open mic. People there are not expecting a Lady Gaga production to walk through the door. They’re expecting a musician (or possibly a small group) to share some material that might be polished\, or it might be the first time performed on a stage. Don’t stress about what people will think. They understand the spirit of the event. \n3. Feel totally comfortable with your material. You’ll probably only have a few songs (many open mics are set by a song or time limit\, usually about three songs or 15 minutes @ The Mission)\, so make sure you’re putting your best foot forward. Just in case you get rattled on stage\, make sure you know the tunes in and out.  \n4. Don’t stress about what to bring. Whoever is running the open mic will have equipment for you and they should be fully capable of setting you up with it. If you’ve never plugged in a guitar or sung into a microphone—don’t worry. They’ll make sure you do it right and that it sounds good. That’s part of the Open Mic experience at The Mission. We have a full back line: Guitars – acoustic/electric\, electric & amp and bass & amp. Full drum kit & Yamaha keyboard. Mics\, cables\, stands. And our sound technician is here to help. \n5. Don’t be afraid to ask. Open mic beginners may think they are completely at the host’s mercy. Truth is\, we’re here to make you sound good! That said\, if you can’t hear yourself\, vocals are too loud\, guitar is too quiet\, whatever\, by all means\, tell them! \n6. Don’t be afraid to trust. The host should understand their sound system very well\, so trust that once you’re settled on stage they’re making it sound right out front. If you’re happy with what’s in your monitor sound\, leave the rest to them. We know our system inside and out. It’s a small room and you have 15 minutes. Let us do our job and make the room sound perfect for your performance.  \n7. Support other players. If you don’t want to be judged\, don’t judge other people. Open mics are a place to try material you might not get to try on other stages. Celebrate the people who come to share their art. Cannot emphasize this enough! This is the spirit of Open Mic Nights at The Mission. Enough said. \n8. Network. Open mics are musician hangouts—take advantage! If you’re looking to start a band or find musicians to see elsewhere\, there’s a good chance they’ll be hanging out at an open mic. We’re on Season 12 at The Mission full of Open Mic Stories of success. \n9. Learn from the experience. Every time you walk away from an open mic\, there is something to learn. How were you received? What feedback did people give you? Did you feel more comfortable? How did you compare with the other players? Honestly analyze the event to improve your performance next time. And take the compliments even if you know you made mistakes. You still entertained folks. \n(10) And finally\, HAVE FUN! Open mics are meant\, most of all\, to be fun. Musicians get to mingle\, everyone gets to play\, and even if you have the biggest flub of all time—it’s all in the spirit of open mic. To take the stage at all is to win. Enjoy it\, learn from the experience\, and have a good time! Join us for Open Mic Night\, share some air and feel the Mission Magic!

SUMMARY:Paul Laemmli - Acoustic At The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors@6pm/SHOW@8 \n \n\n\n\n\nRaised throughout Mid-Missouri\, Paul grew up swimming in the deep end of a family of musicians. While playing all over the great state of Missouri\, he earned a music degree and continues to earn a reputation for connecting people with story songs and skillful guitar work. Heavily influenced by the Springfield Sound and the blues scene in Kansas City\, Paul currently resides near his grandparent’s home in Jefferson City\, Missouri where you can find him playing his red Fender Stratocaster wherever people gather to share life\, love\, and music.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will find Paul performing as a solo artist\, duo or sitting in with full bands\, including the powerhouse blues band\, Buddha Blue…a perfectly well rounded musician and performer.

DESCRIPTION:w/Clay Benne\nDoors@4pm/SHOW@8 \n$8 Tickets Day of Show \nJosh Morningstar Website and Facebook links. \n\n\n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/osjcagTQfFo?t=10\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/_7iS47Iwcww?t=2\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/JFZC1lW1Kt8?t=4\n\n\n\n\nLast night\, the blue light reflected off of the cement in a tiny listening lounge in St. Charles\, Iowa. A conformed church housed a bar in the front full of rogue townies\, and a lounge in the back. “Turn your phones off\,” the host of the lounge barked into the microphone. “Turn them off\, sit back\, and pay attention. This guy is quiet\, and he’s going to tell you some stories.” And my eyebrows raised when his hoarse voice breathed life into a quiet\, rapt crowd. With his eyes closed\, he sang songs -chunks of him offered up to a willing mass. “I’m not a singer\,” he said eventually\, looking down at his guitar. I leaned in to listen harder. “I’m not a guitarist. I’m a song writer. “In his songs were stories and in his stories were words pushed together that took my breath away\, and in his stories were words that oozed the Blood from the Before\, and in his stories were ripped edges. I wanted to know it all. I wanted to know the names of the chunks and I wanted to inspect the hole in his chest and I wanted to know where those melodies come from and I wanted to know how he chooses the words. I wanted to know what he has written on the scraps of paper in his wallet and I wanted to know if his handwriting changes when he knows it’s a good one. It was a listening lounge\, and we were supposed to be quiet and listen\, but he played a song we all knew. And we sang the words with him. We couldn’t help it -not one single person. A crooked grin formed behind the microphone and I’m fairly certain that’s why he does what he does. Not for the lights. Not for the cheers. For sure not for the money. He does it for the people that hear the story and say\, “Yes. Me\, too. I have been there\, too. “In a town out in the middle of the cornfields of Iowa\, a group of people sang the words back to him that he had written. A melody chunked out of one disaster from his life\, and sewn together with a rhyme\, and maybe that’s how you heal the hurt….Vulnerability. Standing up on a stage when you’d rather be holding a pen. Sure looks an awful lot like courage.-Rebecca Cooper\, Author \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA curious and fresh combination of grit and humor\, Josh Morningstar is knocking down stereotypes with his worn boots and unforgettable raspy voice. He is a small-town boy that originally hails from Funkstown\, Maryland\, and he carries those roots in a suitcase with him everywhere he goes. His small-town charm is evident in the way he greets people\, and in the conversational way that he weaves the stories of his life into his music. \n\n\n\nIn front of the bright lights and behind the microphone isn’t where Morningstar feels most at home. Named the 2018 Texas Radio Songwriter of the Year\, he and his Kristofferson signed guitar have knocked out melodies in dingy hotels all across the country. He’s written songs alongside Kendell Marvel\, Channing Wilson\, Autumn McEntire\, and many more. Morningstar was also the writer of several Cody Jinks songs\, including his #1 hit “Must Be The Whiskey”. \n\n\n\nHis lyrics force listeners to sit up and pay attention\, and his songs are always full of truth-bearing stories. The familial connection Morningstar forges with people continues long after his shows are over. Josh Morningstar has shared the stage with some of today’s most sought after folk and country artists\, including Shooter Jennings\, Cody Jinks\, Tyler Childers\, Todd Snider\, Colter Wall\, and Ward Davis. Morningstar continues to lead the charge on the front lines of a new wave of country music – one full of soulful honesty\, the familiar and true twang of an old guitar\, and provoking melodies that tattoo stories to the souls of the listeners. His ability to write about tragedies and victories enamor his tribe of self-proclaimed “Crazies”\, and the best part of it all is that he’s just getting started. \n\n\n\nSong writing credits with: Hayes Carll\, “Big” Al Anderson (NRBQ)\, Kendell Marvel\, Cody Jinks\, Erin Enderlin\, Autumn McEntire\, Hannah Blaylock (Edens Edge)\, Sunny Sweeney\, Ward Davis\, Larry McCoy\, Mark McGuinn\, Billy Don Burns\, Alex Williams\, Channing WIlson\, Wyatt Durette\, Casper McWade\, Steve Dean\, Chris Gantry\, John Berry\, Sam Williams\, Waylon Payne \n\n\n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/ZHJ3s3Yeogo?t=2\n\n\nCLAY BENNE “For me\, music started when I would ride in my dad’s truck with the radio stuck on classic rock. Growing up around it made me want to pick up a guitar and learn to play along. But it wasn’t until late in high school that I understood how much of a hold it had on me\, even more so when there’s a girl involved. Artists like Eric Church and Kip Moore helped me make sense of a lot of things in my life and inspired me to want to do it for myself by writing my own songs. Music has always been there for me in any situation and I hope that I can share that with others.” – Clay Benne \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/xTz0ahqIQY0JB94.mp4\nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/wjtz26FB3UmkorK.mp4\nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/HnwhDZj4UVm0kkT.mp4\nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/K60qOLEzbKmgXnU.mp4

DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm/Music 7-9pm \nNo Cover – Tips Kindly Appreciated \n                                                  \nI have experienced many uplifting and wonderful moments in my musical journey over the years. It started as a teenager when I would listen to the radio and hear my world come alive through the voices and instruments of the great artists and bands of that day. I would sing those songs while growing up in the small Southeast Missouri town where I lived\, in the cotton fields\, and all along the country roads where I roamed. I tried my hand at guitar with a friend on an old Sears and Roebuck model\, but it wasn’t until much later in college that I got more serious with the instrument. I took classical guitar\, along with piano and vocal lessons and graduated with a Music Education Degree. I earned a teaching certificate but instead of teaching in public schools I began a 15 year journey in church music. I used the guitar in working with youth and senior adults and directed a lot of very good choirs. I directed and performed seasonal programs\, conducted amateur orchestras and choir tours. I worked with a lot of wonderful people and many remain friends to this day. I eventually left church music and started working for the State of Missouri and music had to take a back seat to living and raising a family. During my tenure with the state I worked with more wonderful people\, many of which were excellent musicians. We even found time to occasionally plug some music into our work. And then came retirement and along with it a very large amount of time to fill. Time for doing more of what I loved. I dusted off the guitar and began my musical journey anew. One of the first things I did was to seek out like minded musicians who believed in the the life changing power of music as I did. And although it was a slow process\, I found a few locally and I’m discovering even more and making new friends as I continue writing\, singing\, and playing songs that reflect my musical journey – both old and new. It’s a long and winding journey that has taken a few detours along the way but it’s my journey and it will continue. \n\n                            \n\n\nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/8511F4B2-B59F-4B36-99B5-50A0F645C560.mp4 \nJohn performing on stage for open mic night at The Mission \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1ABD65A2-A627-41A3-A9AD-7C2162638140.mp4 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn and his daughter Jenny Presley performing “The Sound Of Silence”  \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/D30C8AFA-675D-4FBA-8882-68E5E875341E.mp4 \n  \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Zak Skinner w/Nick Gazca {Friday Night} @ The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm/SHOW@8:30 \n $5 Cover \nZak Skinner – Facebook Music Page \nZak Skinner – Website \nBorn Zachary Dean Skinner on June 9\, 1988 in McKinney\, TX \, he started writing his own music at age 17 drawing his influences mostly from the alternative\, punk and indie/College Rock scene of the early ’90’s. After teaching himself guitar at age 15\, his natural talent\, and curiosity\, led him to learn bass\, blues harmonica\, banjo\, keys\, and drums. “Kick Me!” his first serious band\, formed at the age of 19. They recorded a demo\, and from that\, and countless free gigs\, his fans formed a foundation. Zak recorded a solo album in December of 2013 at Walker Studios in Gordonville\, Tx\, which was a collection of old and new songs he had written over time\, and produced by an old friend\, Tommy Walker. Together\, they have released the 3 song single “DEMO” with a full electric sound\, in fall of 2015. Zak traveled between states from 2013 to 2015 for work with Renaissance festivals. He used the opportunity to travel\, to play as often as he could\, gathering a few friends in different places\, before settling in Jefferson City\, MO. Missouri projects include Love-Seats\, Propaganja\, Rusted Satellites\, Persephone’s Whiskey Lullaby\, All of Us Together\, Collin County Steel & Wire. \n \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm/SHOW@8:00pm \nTICKETS $5 Advance/$7 at the Door \nTABLE RESERVATIONS $10 SOLD OUT \nReserve Table/Purchase Tickets HERE!   FACEBOOK LINK    \n \n          Down Side Up was formed in 2006 by 5th graders: Ryan Mankin\, Aaron Mankin\, and Joe Lawler in order to blow Immaculate Conception’s student body’s mind at the 5th grade talent show. The show would go down infamously in history and Down Side Up’s journey would begin. Joe Lawler soon after parted ways\, but will always remain a founding member. In order to prepare for the 7th grade talent show Ryan and Aaron would join forces with friends Jason Kremer (lead guitar) and Adam Buhr (bass). This team in fact did go on to nail their talent show performance and make several house party\, birthday\, and county fair appearances. Freshmen year of high school the band once again parted. Aaron Mankin and Ryan Mankin were soon introduced to Helias High School Senior\, Hunter O’Donnell\, bass player. The three of them and guitarist Jason Kremer once again prepared for yet another talent show but their audition was denied. Ryan Mankin\, Aaron Mankin\, and Hunter O’Donnell\, the current lineup\, began their long jouney of vengeance\, delving deep into themselves and harnessing their Rock n’ Roll chakra. The trio began playing bars/music venues in 2013 at such establishments as the Mission in Jefferson City\, MO and later the Bridge in Columbia\, MO\, now located in Jefferson City. SUMMARY:Clay Benne {All Night Happy Hour!}
DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm/SHOW 7-9pm \nNo Cover – Tips kindly appreciated \n  \nClay Benne walked through our doors a couple of weeks ago for Open Mic Night. We don’t keep secrets at The Mission\, so here he is! Join us in welcoming Clay for his debut evening and All Night Happy Hour to boot! Keepin’ it Live and supporting LOCAL! \n \n“For me\, music started when I would ride in my dad’s truck with the radio stuck on classic rock. Music has always been there for me in any situation and I hope that I can share that with others.” – Clay Benne \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/xTz0ahqIQY0JB94.mp4 \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/wjtz26FB3UmkorK.mp4 \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/HnwhDZj4UVm0kkT.mp4 \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/K60qOLEzbKmgXnU.mp4

With an exciting mix of Punk and Ska\, 4 Skeevy Dudes have started making their mark on the music scene. \nThe lead singer-Trinity\, also known as T to his friends\, fronts this collection of talented artists. The energy and enthusiasm he brings to the stage is infectious as the bare footed front man pours sweat giving all that he has in every song to ensure that the crowd feels the music like intended. \nGuitarist-Joe with his old school punk thrasher drives the music. He rocks on his low riding guitar slamming the strings with every down stroke\, producing a sound that any punk fan would love. \nDrummer-Chris pours his heart and sole into every show. Numerous times the drum set is vacated for a quick exhaustion vomit outback and then back on the drums…not missing a beat. \nTrinity Scott (vocals)\, Joe Amsden (guitar\, vocals)\, Chris Loeffler (drums)\, Jonathan Hagood (bass) \n\nMINUTE MURDER
