SUMMARY:KRIS LAGER
DESCRIPTION:Kris Lager is an uncompromising musician and charismatic performer who has cultivated a grassroots following and a career spanning over two decades. He has developed a unique  ‘Celebrate Life’ message and mantra that emanates with every performance.  A message that creates a congregation of dancing\, singing\, and clapping people with smiles on their faces everywhere he goes.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nHe has fused together his passion for blues\, soul\, funk\, zydeco\, country\, and almost every other ‘American Roots Music’ into a contemporary and refreshing musical gumbo full of soul and spiritually uplifting rhythms and melodies. \n\n\n\nMany people are calling him one of the finest songwriters\, performers\, and guitarists of his generation and for good reason too. Kris Lager’s gravely voice and stirring lyrics combine the realness and authenticity of the blues with a keen sense of the human condition.   \n\n\n\n\n\nLast year World-Renowned Musician and Podcaster\, Andy Frasco called Kris “His favorite songwriter!” and also said Kris has inspired a lot of his songs and his desire to have an upbeat and positive stage persona. \n\n\n\nMultiple Grammy Award winning and Legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Producer\, who has mixed two of Kris’ albums\, Jim Gaines (Santana\, SRV\, Van Morrison\, Steve Miller) says Kris has “A great voice and great songs!”   \n\n\n\nPaste Magazine explains the music as “The kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day.” \n\n\n\nA Lincoln native based out of Omaha\, Nebraska\, Kris and his band have built a reputation as a hardworking Independent band refusing to play by industry rules or pander for awards and accolades.  They just hit the road and the stage with an intense purpose of expressing themselves through uplifting music while engaging and respecting their audiences. \n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.krislager.com\n\n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/kris.lager\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/ZjPhO_jCuPg?si=WvvnEgXlBDjQ2Ynv

SUMMARY:KRIS LAGER {Returns!!} @ The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors@5pm \nSHOW@9pm \nTickets @DOOR $15 \nAdvanced Tickets $8 \nReserve Table $20 {Tickets sold seperately} \nFACEBOOK {Kris Lager Band}\nWEBSITE {Kris Lager Band} \n\n\n\nKris Lager has become an underground cult hero of sorts. An uncompromising musician and charismatic performer who has cultivated a grassroots following and a career spanning over two decades. He has developed a unique ‘Celebrate Life’ message and mantra that emanates with every performance. A message that creates a congregation of dancing\, singing\, and clapping people with smiles on their faces everywhere he goes. \nHe has fused together his passion for blues\, soul\, funk\, zydeco\, country\, and almost every other ‘American Roots Music’ into a contemporary and refreshing musical gumbo full of soul and spiritually uplifting rhythms and melodies. \nMany people are calling him one of the finest songwriters\, performers\, and guitarists of his generation and for good reason too. Kris Lager’s gravely voice and stirring lyrics combine the realness and authenticity of the blues with a keen sense of the human condition. \nLast year World-Renowned Musician and Podcaster\, Andy Frasco called Kris “His favorite songwriter!” and also said Kris has inspired a lot of his songs and his desire to have an upbeat and positive stage persona.\nMultiple Grammy Award winning and Legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Producer\, who has mixed two of Kris’ albums\, Jim Gaines (Santana\, SRV\, Van Morrison\, Steve Miller) says Kris has “A great voice and great songs!”\nPaste Magazine explains the music as “The kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day.” \nA Lincoln native based out of Omaha\, Nebraska\, Kris and his band have built a reputation as a hardworking Independent band refusing to play by industry rules or pander for awards and accolades. They just hit the road and the stage with an intense purpose of expressing themselves through uplifting music while engaging and respecting their audiences. \nNew Single: ‘Breathe In The Sunshine’\nA new single was dropped in September 2022 called ‘Breathe In The Sunshine’ and can be found under ‘Kris Lager’ (not Kris Lager Band) on all streaming music platforms world wide. The tune is another feel good anthem that will be a staple on your playlist every time you go down the road on a sunny day with the windows down! \nNew Album: ‘Presence’\nLast year Kris released a blues album entitled ‘Blues Lover’ also found under ‘Kris Lager’ on his own Fervent Ameba Records label and this year marks another self-produced and mixed album entitled ‘Presence’.\n“The concept of the album ‘Presence’ is to deliver a sound and vibe that allows the listener to feel the power of the present moment while also reflecting on the past. I think even in the sad songs off of the album there remains a sliver lining of light that can guide us out of the darkness and into a new sense of hope and purpose” Explains Kris. A true pandemic project\, no doubt.\n\nThe album features 10 new original songs and a cover of King Floyd’s classic soul tune ‘I Really Love You’. The albums opening track and lead single ‘Fly With The Stars’ features a powerhouse guitar riff and a driving beat reminiscent of a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers hit.\nThere are also live staples such as ‘Let’s Dance Nice & Slow’\, ‘Feel It In The Air’\, and ‘You Ain’t Gonna Do Me Like That’ both available on an album for the first time. There is even a track on the album with no guitar! The gospel tinged song ‘Love Hate Thang’ features Kris on the piano and organ.\nThe album honestly and accurately showcases Kris’ evolution as a songwriter\, musician\, and producer who was involved in every step of the production. He wrote and recorded the record entirely himself on his Tascam 388 tape machine. This recording is truly an accurate artistic statement and an original recording directly from the artist himself. \n‘Presence’ is also the ‘Swan Song’ for Kris and longtime drummer John Fairchild AKA ‘Scooby Sha Bo Bo’. It marks their last recorded project together before parting ways after almost 17 years of recording and touring together. “For me\, that’s just another reason why this album serves as a beautiful time capsule. Scooby and I had a great chemistry from playing thousands of shows together and this is a great crescendo and documentation of who we were as a team.”\nLong time KLB touring Bassist\, Joe Donnelly makes his first appearance on album with Kris. He is laying down the funky low end on three of the tracks: ‘Let’s Dance Nice & Slow’\, ‘Love Hate Thang’ and a tune he helped write ’Time To Get To Work’. The closing track on the album.

DESCRIPTION:DOORS @6PM \nSHOW @8-11 \nTickets $10 \nFACEBOOK {The Bel Airs}\nWEBSITE {The Bel Airs}\nTake a listen to THE BEL AIRS \n\n\n\nLiving on the road and playing clubs from “Austin to Boston”\, the Bel Airs are carrying on the tradition of American Rhythm and Blues. The band is fronted by brothers Dick and Dave Pruitt on bass and electric guitars. Growing up on country soul and rock-n-roll\, the Pruitt brothers have developed a harmony vocal style all their own. They have been performing together for more than 30 years\, wowing audiences nightly with their unique brand of music- leading one reviewer to refer to them as the “Everly Brothers of Blues.” \nFormed in 1981\, the original incarnation of the Bel Airs included the Pruitt brothers\, harp player Michael Henderson and drummer Pat O’Connor. In those days\, rumor has it that in addition to playing guitar behind his head\, little David Pruitt occasionally rode on Henderson’s shoulders at the end of an especially raucous set. \nWith four acclaimed albums and performances at festivals and night clubs across the USA as well as England\, France\, Belgium and Spain\, the band continues to travel extensively. The Bel Airs’ musical approach and superbly crafted showmanship make for a more than memorable concert whenever they appear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Crooked Cane & Instrumental Blues Protocol @ The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors @ 6PM \nSHOW @ 8:30 \nCOVER CHARGE $5 \nFACEBOOK {Instrumental Blues Protocol} \nWEBSITE {Instrumental Blues Protocol} \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers of Broken Suns of Karma\, Buried and The Bon Scott 5 unite to deliver ole’ skool\, HEAVY blues-based instrumental rock. Our work includes meticulously chosen\, somewhat obscure cover tunes of a bygone era and original material which we’ll continue to develop. \nCROOKED CANE \nFACEBOOK {Crooked Cane Band} \nWEBSITE {Crooked Cane Band} \nLISTEN!! {Crooked Cane Band} \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrooked Cane came into existence in the fall of 2016\, when BURIED drummer Carlos Sanchez introduced two of his workplace colleagues from the Truman VA Hospital in Columbia\, MO to each other with the intention to start up a blues-rock project. David Bach (guitar\, vocals) and Mike Palmer (keyboards\, vocals) began sharing their backgrounds as songwriters over decades with local and regional touring bands\, and soon concluded that they wanted to showcase their original compositions in this new group. Dr. Sanchez returned to his own group\, and the new project recruited bassist Mike Barnes\, drummer Mark Wilson\, and lead guitarist Andy Parker to round out the lineup. The band began rehearsing material\, drawing from Bach and Palmer’s established catalogs. \nWithin a few weeks after the band began rehearsing\, it faced its first serious hurdle. Mike Barnes suffered a debilitating stroke\, which left him unable to use the left side of his body. Facing a long course of rehabilitation\, Mike nevertheless persisted as a valued member of the band\, remaining as a vocalist and arranger and lending his skills to the band’s studio recording. The band reached out to guitarist/bassist Dale Bassham to assume bass duties for the group. The six-piece group forged ahead with rehearsing\, composing\, and recording\, and the group was prepared to release its first EP in early 2017. An impromptu Facebook poll led to the name Crooked Cane\, and the band subsequently released its debut EP American Sampler. The band began rehearsals for live performance\, and made its live debut at the 2017 MAHD Battle of the Bands. \n2018 brought changes to the band’s lineup\, as Bassham moved out of the area to pursue business opportunities. Wishing him all the best\, the band elected to carry on as a five-piece; Mike Barnes returned to the role of bass player\, performing bass parts with his able right hand on a keyboard. The band went on to perform three more live shows in 2018\, and continued with more live shows and recording throughout 2019 and 2020. \nCrooked Cane released its first full-length self-titled CD in April 2021\, and began booking new shows to support the album’s release. Parker left the band shortly after\, due to family and work obligations. The band has carried on with playing and recording new music since\, with Dave’s son Joshua Bach filling in on lead guitar for the band’s live shows.

SUMMARY:KRIS LAGER BAND {Returns!!} @ The Mission
DESCRIPTION:Doors@5pm \nSHOW@9pm \nTickets @DOOR $10 \nFACEBOOK {Kris Lager Band}\nWEBSITE {Kris Lager Band} \n \nKris Lager is a one-of-a-kind songwriter\, guitarist\, singer\, keyboardist\, and entertainer. An intense and charismatic performer who has traveled across the country honing his craft over the last two decades . He has developed a unique ‘Celebrate Life’ message and mantra that emanates with every performance. A message that creates a congregation of dancing\, singing\, and clapping people with smiles on their faces at every show. \nMany of his peers are calling him: “One of the most gifted songwriters of his generation.” \nWorld renowned musician Andy Frasco recently called Kris “His favorite songwriter!” on his ‘World Saving Podcast’ and said a lot of the songs for which he has built his ‘positive’ foundation on were written by Kris. Legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Producer\, who has mixed two of Kris’ albums\, Jim Gaines (Santana\, SRV\, Van Morrison\, Steve Miller) says Kris has “A great voice and great songs!” Paste Magazine calls the music “The kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day.” \nA Lincoln native based out of Omaha\, Nebraska\, Kris and his band have built a reputation as a hardworking Independent band refusing to play by industry rules or pander for awards and accolades. They just hit the road and the stage with an intense purpose of uplifting and engaging audiences while delivering a flavorful gumbo of feel good rhythms and soulful songs. \nNew album: ‘Blues Lover’ \nIt seems like a lot of folks have gotten rather nostalgic throughout this past year and a half of the pandemic and it is safe to say Kris Lager has too. He found himself going back to his blues roots; back to where he started when he first picked up a guitar. \nHis first stage experiences were at a weekly Blues Jam at Duggan’s Pub in Lincoln\, Nebraska and also playing at the world famous Zoo Bar. Kris Frequently played alongside Nebraska Blues legends such as Magic Slim\, Lil’ Slim\, Baby Jason\, and Sean Benjamin. All of them nurturing and inspiring his love for blues music. \n“I’ve never released a straight up blues record before and I thought.. you know what? I’m gonna go for it. I’m gonna record these songs that I’ve been playing for twenty years and just have some fun.” said Kris. Eight of his most beloved blues songs as well as two original tunes comprise the new album ‘Blues Lover’. \nThere’s two Albert King tracks\, a Shuggie Otis tune as well as Buddy Guy\, Paul Butterfield\, Shawn Holt\, Snooky Pryor\, and Blind Lemon Jefferson covers on the recording rounded out by two original songs: ‘I Just Want To See You happy’ and ‘Back Home To The Blues’ co-written by Mark Ryan. \nThe album was recorded and mixed by Kris Lager himself at his studio ‘The Conduit’ and released on his label ‘Fervent Ameba Records’. The first of many self-produced recordings according to Kris. All songs were recorded live straight to tape using his legendary Tascam 388 tape machine. “This recording was exactly the sound I was going after. A squishy analog sound that gives the listener an old school vibe. A vibe that I really dig as a blues lover and I think other blues lovers will too. With the help of Doug Van Sloun from Focus Mastering I believe we achieved a great sounding recording.” exclaims Kris. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/22746792_127649104610607_7958935468798640128_n.mp4 \nFor well over a decade The Kris Lager Band has been a vehicle for Kris Lager’s unique brand of original music. Self described as ‘Heavy Soul & Boogie Trance’ KLB doesn’t fall neatly into any one category or genre. The best way to categorize them would be ‘Feel Good Music’ because as soon as it hits you\, you just feel good! Whether it is a funky soulful number\, a groovy beat\, a boogie guitar driven riff\, or a tug on your heart strings ballad. A KLB song or show has that ability to just lift you up and make you feel good EVERYTIME!! \nA KLB show is a legitimate Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival and an Electric Church. The energy this band throws out from the drop of the first note creates a feel good dancing\, singing\, and hollering great time. One that is truly contagious and impossible to sit still through. Kris Lager is one of the most dynamic front men you’ll ever witness with an unrivaled level of intensity and showmanship. He delivers raw\, and powerful music through his emotional guitar playing and singing. \nThis brand of ‘Feel Good Music’ all begins with intentions. “I began playing music and writing music purely as a means of expression.” says Kris. “Put me in a crowded room and I wouldn’t say two words\, but if you gave me a guitar and a microphone you would have to kick me off of the stage. I found music to be a wonderful safe haven in which I could exist and escape to whenever I desired. As I matured and grew I realized just how much joy could come from communicating with your bandmates and entertaining people\, all the while expressing myself at the same time.” \nAs soon as Kris hits the stage you get the feeling you are witnessing a man on a mission. “I hit the stage with one intention and that is lifting up spirits. I believe the way to do that is through awareness of myself and others. It is something I call ‘The Holy Trinity of music’. There is me\, the musician\, and then my bandmates (or the people I am creating the music with)\, and then there is the audience. When I am in constant awareness of all three elements that is when the real magic happens. That is what I strive for as a performer\, musician\, and songwriter.” \nThat is just scratching the surface of all of the nuances and ingredients that went into this record and whats behind KLB. Please download or pick up the CD and help keep these troubadours on the road. There are also plenty of music in KLB’s back catalogue to dig into\, and definitely go see KLB whenever they come to your neck of the woods. They will change your life! \nCELEBRATE LIFE!!! \nThe Legendary Bluesman\, Tab Benoit is also a fan. Proclaiming “These guys are the real deal! Go see them whenever they come to your town!” He produced and recorded KLB’s 2013 release ‘Platte River Runaway’ at his home studio in Houma\, Louisiana. Soon after they worked with Tab Benoit they went to San Francisco and recorded with Bay area funk maestros\, Monophonics at their Transistor Studios. The result was 2014’s ‘Heavy Soul & Boogie Trance’ mixed by Orgone’s Sergio Rios. The release caught the attention of Ohio’s Colemine Records\, who released two of the tracks as a 45 and also featured the release on their internationally distributed Soul Slabs LP. \n \n \n \n \n2010 @ The Mission….we love us some Kris Lager Band!

SUMMARY:Jeremiah Johnson {RETURNS!}
DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm \nSHOW@8pm \nTickets $15 \nTable Reservations $20  SOLD OUT \nFACEBOOK {Jeremiah Johnson} \nWEBSITE {Jeremiah Johnson} \nJeremiah Johnson\nSINGER SONGWRITER – GUITARIST\n \nBorn and raised in St. Louis\, Jeremiah Johnson is the voice of Mississippi River blues blending with the struggles of everyday life. He began learning guitar at age 6\, drawing inspiration from his rich St. Louis blues heritage and legendary guitarists\, like Alvin Lee\, Eric Clapton and Hank Williams Sr. and Jr. With these influences\, Johnson began building his musical foundation.\nAfter relocating to Houston\, TX\, in 1999\, Johnson finished in first place for three consecutive years at the Houston Regional Blues Challenges\, sponsored by the Houston Blues Society. Johnson returned to St. Louis in 2009\, and merged Texas style with STL blues to create the unique sound you hear today. The 10 years Johnson lived and performed in Texas changed his musical style in ways you can still hear in his music today. In 2011\, Johnson was the proud winner of the St. Louis Blues Society IBC Challenge and went on to the semifinals to represent St. Louis in Memphis\, TN. One year later\, Sirius XM’s B.B. King’s Bluesville picked up the Jeremiah Johnson Band\, where they can be heard nationwide\, and they have been playing his music ever since. You can also hear Jeremiah Johnson on Touch Tunes Jukeboxes in bars/clubs across the US and on radio stations around the world. In September 2014\, Johnson filmed his docu-concert\, Ride the Blues\, directed by Australian Producer/Director Gary Glenn\, at the historic Capitol Theater in downtown Burlington\, IA. The film is live music video about Johnson’s rise to prominence\, featuring intimate interview segments\, still photography\, guitar solos and stunning vocals. Donations from concert attendees were generously given to the theater and to the National Blues Museum\, connecting Johnson’s roles of musician and music advocate. 2014 Johnson records Grind\, produced by Devon Allman\, features Grammy award winner Yonrico Scott on drums. Grind has been featured on SiriusXM’s B.B. King’s Bluesville\, and on the international radio show “Confessing the Blues”\, broadcasting on 50 stations in 10 countries worldwide. Grind reached the #8 slot on the Billboard Blues Charts the week of November 7th\, 2015.\nJohnson follows the success of Grind with a self-produced release\, Blues Heart Attack\, released worldwide on July 22\, 2016. This unique record is a blend of Johnson’s entire musical career. “It’s a combination of our earlier works\, and then Grind\,” he explained. “There’s horns and keyboard reminiscent of Brand Spankn’ Blues\, but also some heavy guitar driven tracks. It’s the evolution of everything in a Blues Heart Attack.” Special guest performers include Tom ‘Papa’ Ray on harmonica\, and Nathan Hershey on keys. Blues Heart Attack reached #5 on the Billboard Blues Charts following its release in 2016.\nAfter signing a record deal with Ruf Records in March of 2018\, Jeremiah immediately went to Texas to record his debut Ruf Records release\, Straitjacket\, with BMA award winning Mike Zito producing. Straitjacket debuted #1 on iTunes New Blues Releases and #6 on Billboard Blues Album Chart and has been in the top of the Roots Music Report ever since. After a European tour with Mike Zito in the Beginning of 2019 and then followed by a Northeastern USA tour with Zito again\, Johnson has truly electrified a whole new audience.\nJohnson released\, “Heavens to Betsy”\, his 2nd Ruf Records Release on February 14th\, 2020. Johnson started out 2020 touring with the Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2020 and separately with his band though out 2020. Then the Covid-19 Pandemic shut down the industry worldwide.\nJeremiah Johnson takes the dangers of the COVID-19 virus as seriously as his music career. But no matter how you look at it\, the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has effectively put him out of work. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” is Johnson’s response to the adverse situation. 2020 started the year on a high note when his Ruf Records release\, “Heavens to Betsy”\, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Blues Album charts and soon climbed to the coveted #1 spot by April 11th. With a #1 record and 70+ European Tour dates scheduled with the “2020 Ruf Records Blues Caravan”; Johnson was set to have a breakout year before everything came to a crashing halt. Quarantined at home for months\, Johnson decided it was time to get creative. “Being forced into unemployment has been beyond frustrating. I decided to produce an album of songs inspired by the “Covid-19 Pandemic” and try to turn the roller coaster of emotions into something musical. This is truly a concept album.” Johnson exclaims. The final product is a first-class Blues/Roots Rock record that is packed full of stunning guitar work coupled with soulfully passionate bluesy southern vocals. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” is a striking musical reflection of the times that delivers a message the entire world can relate to.\nReleased on 10/30/2020\, “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” hit #4 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts on 11/14/2020. Giving Johnson the unique honor of having to new releases in 2020 hit the top 5.\nJeremiah Johnson blends the sounds of the south\, with Mississippi River blues and a touch of country flair. Emotionally charged southern blues rock\, powered by the common man’s passion for life and all the struggles in-between. Songs with meaning\, a powerfully persuasive voice and master class musicianship. “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” has caught lightning in a bottle with this masterful snapshot of these difficult times and is truly a testament to his talent. Possibly the best record of Johnsons career\, born from the most challenging time in his life as a musician.

SUMMARY:Kris Lager Band {RETURNS!}
DESCRIPTION:Doors@6pm \nSHOW@8:30pm \nTickets @DOOR $10 \nTable Reservations $20 SOLD OUT \nFACEBOOK {Kris Lager Band}\nWEBSITE {Kris Lager Band} \n \nKris Lager is a one-of-a-kind songwriter\, guitarist\, singer\, keyboardist\, and entertainer. An intense and charismatic performer who has traveled across the country honing his craft over the last two decades . He has developed a unique ‘Celebrate Life’ message and mantra that emanates with every performance. A message that creates a congregation of dancing\, singing\, and clapping people with smiles on their faces at every show.\nMany of his peers are calling him: “One of the most gifted songwriters of his generation.”\nWorld renowned musician Andy Frasco recently called Kris “His favorite songwriter!” on his ‘World Saving Podcast’ and said a lot of the songs for which he has built his ‘positive’ foundation on were written by Kris. Legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Producer\, who has mixed two of Kris’ albums\, Jim Gaines (Santana\, SRV\, Van Morrison\, Steve Miller) says Kris has “A great voice and great songs!” Paste Magazine calls the music “The kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day.”\nA Lincoln native based out of Omaha\, Nebraska\, Kris and his band have built a reputation as a hardworking Independent band refusing to play by industry rules or pander for awards and accolades. They just hit the road and the stage with an intense purpose of uplifting and engaging audiences while delivering a flavorful gumbo of feel good rhythms and soulful songs.\nNew album: ‘Blues Lover’\nIt seems like a lot of folks have gotten rather nostalgic throughout this past year and a half of the pandemic and it is safe to say Kris Lager has too. He found himself going back to his blues roots; back to where he started when he first picked up a guitar.\nHis first stage experiences were at a weekly Blues Jam at Duggan’s Pub in Lincoln\, Nebraska and also playing at the world famous Zoo Bar. Kris Frequently played alongside Nebraska Blues legends such as Magic Slim\, Lil’ Slim\, Baby Jason\, and Sean Benjamin. All of them nurturing and inspiring his love for blues music.\n“I’ve never released a straight up blues record before and I thought.. you know what? I’m gonna go for it. I’m gonna record these songs that I’ve been playing for twenty years and just have some fun.” said Kris. Eight of his most beloved blues songs as well as two original tunes comprise the new album ‘Blues Lover’.\nThere’s two Albert King tracks\, a Shuggie Otis tune as well as Buddy Guy\, Paul Butterfield\, Shawn Holt\, Snooky Pryor\, and Blind Lemon Jefferson covers on the recording rounded out by two original songs: ‘I Just Want To See You happy’ and ‘Back Home To The Blues’ co-written by Mark Ryan.\nThe album was recorded and mixed by Kris Lager himself at his studio ‘The Conduit’ and released on his label ‘Fervent Ameba Records’. With the help of Doug Van Sloun from Focus Mastering I believe we achieved a great sounding recording.” exclaims Kris.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\nScooby Sha Bo Bo AKA John Fairchild\nThe heartbeat of the band.\nHe’s been traveling and laying down the groove for KLB for over a decade.\nHe is one of the most dynamic drummers you will ever witness and a freestylist extraordinaire!!\n \n \n\n \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/22746792_127649104610607_7958935468798640128_n.mp4 \nFor well over a decade The Kris Lager Band has been a vehicle for Kris Lager’s unique brand of original music. A KLB song or show has that ability to just lift you up and make you feel good EVERYTIME!!\nA KLB show is a legitimate Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival and an Electric Church. He delivers raw\, and powerful music through his emotional guitar playing and singing.\nThis brand of ‘Feel Good Music’ all begins with intentions. As I matured and grew I realized just how much joy could come from communicating with your bandmates and entertaining people\, all the while expressing myself at the same time.”\nAs soon as Kris hits the stage you get the feeling you are witnessing a man on a mission. That is what I strive for as a performer\, musician\, and songwriter.”\nThat is just scratching the surface of all of the nuances and ingredients that went into this record and whats behind KLB. Please download or pick up the CD and help keep these troubadours on the road. There are also plenty of music in KLB’s back catalogue to dig into\, and definitely go see KLB whenever they come to your neck of the woods. They will change your life!\nCELEBRATE LIFE!!!\nThe Legendary Bluesman\, Tab Benoit is also a fan. The release caught the attention of Ohio’s Colemine Records\, who released two of the tracks as a 45 and also featured the release on their internationally distributed Soul Slabs LP.\n \n \n \n \n2010 @ The Mission….we love us some Kris Lager Band!

DESCRIPTION:Doors@4pm \nSHOW@7:30pm \n$5 Cover \nFACEBOOK LINK \nhttps://themissionjc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Cody-Pursifull.mp4 \n\n\n\n \n“I grew up around music watching my Grandpa play Country & Western to his fans. Watching Hee-Haw and The Grand Ole Opry every night with that same great man added to my inspiration to pursue my passion for music. Once I hit the age of 5 my grandpa started showing me chords on the acoustic guitar which lead to starting guitar lessons with a Missouri Folk Music Legend Lee Ruth at Crazy Music in Columbia\, Missouri. Lee showed me how to put the chords together to form a song and introduced me to Traditional Folk and Bluegrass tunes. I continued lessons with Lee for about 8 years until I discovered the band Free and Jimi Hendrix. These artists steered me towards my love of the Les Paul and the Stratocaster sending me in a different musical direction. As the years went on I have been continuously influenced by bands such as The Allman Brothers\, The Band of Gypsies\, The Grateful Dead\, and Cream. Because of these influences I became partial to what is known as “The Southern Sound” or “Southern Rock”. It was that exact sound that paved the road ahead of me in my music career. Although “The Southern Sound” is my first love\, I still yearned for something more. This yearning sparked my journey with Solo Acoustic performances playing Old Gospel and traditional folk tunes. In 2010 my mother moved to New York City and I would soon follow her to experience the Big Apple myself. After living in New York City a year and a half I never really found a place I felt musically comfortable with. After the Towers fell on 9/11 I knew at that moment it was time go back home to Missouri where my heart truly lies. Once back in the Show Me State I started to immerse myself into the music scene of Columbia\, Missouri. I religiously attended the local Blues Jams and eventually befriended Ted & Shelly Tyson. The Tyson’s had a Chicago style Blues band called Serious Blues Band and they quickly invited me to become a member. We played our hearts out for 5 years before that yearning for something more started to overcome me and I made the decision to try my hand at forming my own band. I established The Highwater Band in 2014 with fellow bandmates Don Atchley and The Jolly Brother’s bassist Tim Shields. The excitement of my electric band needed some balance\, so I decided to go back that old Folk\, Country\, and Bluegrass music learning as many songs as I could to continue down the path of my solo acoustic career. Musical inspirations such as Jerry Garcia\, Kevin Welch\, and Bob Dylan added to my influence. After 3 years with The Highwater Band we parted ways in the Summer of 2017. Parting ways was a bitter sweet moment\, but it encouraged me to really find my place and allowed me more time to focus my energy on acoustic endeavors. I started writing my own songs with the first hit being a tune called “End Of The Line”. I pulled my inspiration from my moments living in New York City during 9/11 and the following year I wrote “Graveyard Showdown” building on those same experiences. I wanted to pay tribute to that same great man to started the whole thing and composed “His Guitar”. Music is more than just notes on a paper and words on a sheet\, its about the looks on fans faces after hearing my tunes which for me is priceless.” – Cody Pursifull

SUMMARY:Joe Lewis Band at The Mission!
DESCRIPTION:Doors@6pm/SHOW@8:30pm/$5 \n \n\n“The way to influence people with your music is to put your own heart and soul on the line for all the world to see. If your heart and soul are right and your message is right you now have the power to influence people in a positive direction.” – Joe Lewis \n\n\n\n(Article by: American Blues Scene)\nYou can tell a lot about a person when you learn where they were raised and came of age. In the case of Joe Lewis: Picayune Mississippi\, located about an hour or so from New Orleans. The sounds of the Delta and blues music were the forever background music Joe heard while growing up. So\, it is no wonder that those sounds deeply influenced him as he picked up his first guitar at age ten and began to play. \nIn American music\, the lines between genres are thin and the roots of each genre intertwine as they grow. That line has always been blurred between blues and gospel\, two genres that are considered the source of all modern music. As a gifted musician the choice to play electric guitar and sing words of praise is not a new thing; Sister Rosetta Tharpe pioneered the genre in the early 50s. However\, the Joe Lewis Band are trailblazers in Contemporary Christian Blues music. \nUp Next should prove to be another fine tool in their mission to open hearts and minds as well as doors. \nLewis and his power trio of Tom Cole on bass and drummer Derrick Enyard began 2020 by representing the Lake of the Ozarks Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. They then embarked on recording their fourth album enlisting super producer Kevin Shirley to mix the album at his famous studio\, The Cave\, in Sydney Australia and having the album mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig. This A-team clearly delivered to create a first-class sonic landscape with ten original tracks\, a mixture of straight-ahead blues\, funk and rockin’ soul centered around Lewis’ stellar guitar playing and sparkling tenor vocals. The rambunctious spirit of the album and its words of positivity and praise strive to blur the line between Saturday night and Sunday morning. \nThe session opens with a chiming guitar that leads us into the unconventional love song “I Like It\,” with words of devotion set to a funky groove. Lewis continues to give praise for his beloved on the soul track “Hot Lovin’ Momma\,” doing his best James Brown\, along with special guest Biscuit Miller laying down an authentic Bootsy Collins’bass line. The jump blues “Can I Get With You\,” features furious fretboard work and playful lyrics on a great danceable number. Lewis spells out his devotion as a seeker on the dynamic “Do Your Work In Me” and then delivers a touching tribute to a dearly departed sister on the emotional ballad “Broken Angel Of The Delta\,” a real highlight of the album. \nThe second half of the session begins with the account of the night Lewis discovered his calling while listening to a real bluesman at a local jook joint on the edgy “Do Drop Inn\,” and then proceeds to lead the fellows through a blazing instrumental “Twang A Doodle Boom Boom\,” swinging with fury. The trio continuous to show off their proficiency of authentic blues forms on the Texas shuffle “Baby Rocks The Boat\,” and another time shifting funk blast “Defying Gravity\,” with a clever lyrical twist. Lewis ends the set with an acoustic driven devotional “Jesus I Love The Way You Love\,” a sincere benediction from a faithful servant. \n“The way to influence people with your music is to put your own heart and soul on the line for all the world to see. If your heart and soul are right and your message is right you now have the power to influence people in a positive direction.” – Joe Lewis \n\n\n\n\n \nJoe Lewis Band: Up Next Review (Gloria Ruth Finney – March 30\, 2021) Blues Rock Review\nBursting with the sound of blues and gospel\, Up Next is the newest album from the Joe Lewis Band. The ten-track release is the fourth album from the trio; comprised of Joe Lewis – lead guitar and vocals\, Tom Cole – bass\, and Derrick Enyard – drums. The album is a mixture of contemporary blues and gospel\, flooded with familiar sounds of style and influence.\nJoe Lewis Band hails from Missouri\, although Lewis himself cut his teeth growing up about an hour outside New Orleans\, in Picayune\, Mississippi. It was there where Delta blues quickly formed his style. For Lewis\, life’s pitfalls around the age of 25 led him to discover his purpose – bearing his soul within the music\, while incorporating the message of the gospel.\nPrevious releases from the band were primarily gospel\, however\, Up Next\, turns the dial up a notch with “fast” lyrics and heavy grooves\, landing this album more on the contemporary side of blues. The album was mixed in Sydney\, Australia by the legendary Kevin (The Caveman) Shirley\, known for years of expertise working with Dream Theatre and Joe Bonamassa. Up Next\, was mastered by the acclaimed\, Bob Ludwig.\n“I Like It\,” is by far the hottest track on the album\, with an intro similar to an up-tempo version of Gary Clark Jr.’s\, “Bright Lights”. “I Like It\,” is definitely the song to play again and again. Up Next\, chronicles the life\, love\, and faith between Lewis and his wife; the first time he saw her\, their first date\, as well as the hardships of loss of family. Lewis beautifully slows it down in “Broken Angel of the Delta\,” to commemorate the life his late sister-in-law. “Do Drop Inn\,” takes the funk back up\, closely followed by “Baby Rocks the Boat\,” which has a highly recognizable Stevie Ray Vaughan taste to it. While a wide range of influences are easily noted track to track\, Lewis’ vocals and technique present themselves as a testament to his versatility.\nReleased Feb. 26\, Up Next\, is garnering airplay and rank\, charting across the Roots Music Report for multiple weeks in March\, including Top 50 Contemporary Blues Albums. \nThe Review: 7.5/10 \nCan’t Miss Tracks \n– I Like It\n– Hot Lovin’ Momma\n– Broken Angel of the Delta\n– Do Drop Inn\n– Baby Rocks the Boat\nThe Big Hit \n– I Like It
