The Mission presents: The 6th Annual “Holiday Hootenanny” at The Mission on Saturday, December 18th. The entry fee will go as a donation to JCPS Orchestra Program. Seven years ago it came to our attention it costs approximately $6,000 annually for repairs and maintenance on the instruments that are provided for FREE to any 5th-12th grade students in JCPS.  Monies donated from past Holiday Hootnenannies have been raised to help offset those costs. Good News! The school district is now funding instrument repair and most of the basics:  new strings, new cases, new music, etc.  “Now that our boosters are free of having to pay for instrument repair we can start dreaming about new ways to help our kids!  We’re now starting to focus our efforts on things such as raising money for clinicians, music theory computer programs, more electric instruments (we only have two electric violins and one amp right now), etc.  Even though the Hootenanny was started to help us with instrument repair we would love to keep working with you on the Hootenanny to help create new opportunities for our students.” – Aimee Veile (JCHS Orchestra)
This is a fantastic service that has continued for almost 50 years in Jefferson City.  Giving the gift of music to our children is one we can get behind! ‘Tis the season…
