A MISSION FAVORITE!!!

Marbin is an instrumental jazz-rock band based in Chicago IL.
Marbin first started in 2007 as a duo consisting of Israeli guitarist Dani Rabin and Israeli saxophonist Danny Markovitch Slor. Markovitch and Rabin met shortly after Markovitch had completed his military service as an infantry sergeant and Rabin had graduated from Berklee College of Music. Since 2008, Marbin has been living in Chicago and performing all over the United States, playing over 250 shows a year with the accompaniment of drummer Justyn Lawrence and bassist Jae Gentile . They have released three albums: Marbin (2009), Breaking the Cycle (2011) , and Last Chapter of Dreaming (2013). Marbin is currently signed to Moonjune Records and Management.
In addition to their regular schedule, in October 2011 Marbin toured with fusion super group Scott Henderson, Mike Clark, and Jeff Berlin in a series of venues on the east coast and the midwest. In March 2012, Marbin toured with Allan Holdsworth’s new trio that consists of Yellow Jackets’ bassist Jimmy Haslip, and drummer Virgil Donati. Marbin has also recorded and performed with other music greats such as drummer Paul Wertico, (Pat Metheny Group), bassist Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group), percussionist Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon), and more.

Guitar Player Magazine Editor’s April Faves – Barry Cleveland
Good lord! If ever proof was needed that, to put a wrinkle on the old saw, playin’ makes perfect, Marbin’s 3rd release, Last Chapter of Dreaming, sets in stone an evolution beyond what was rightly expected and delivered in their last CD. which was itself a dynamo.

Last Chapter of Dreaming (2013) is the very definition of “mind blowing”, it has everything you could wish for in rock, jazz, fusion, blues, prog rock and world music. The album is not boring for a second!…the record surprises, engages, captivates and gives me a total and original music experience like no other”

The Albums – Yuval Erel (Israel)
Visiting Marbin’s world is like stepping into the shared, futuristic, restless dream of the battle-weary or tapping into the universal subconscious. Nothing is gray or monotone in “Last Chapter Of Dreaming,” but instead, almost relentlessly vibrant.
The Examiner – Carol Banks Weber
Last Chapter of Dreaming is an album of contrasts, where musicians of class play many styles, one moment a roller coaster ride, the next a gentle settling down to sleep before shaking awake with riotous anarchy
Sammy Stein – All About Jazz
Marbin has the ability to convert a wide range of influences and a variety of genres into a sound of their own. I’m very impressed by the technical skills, the tightness and the interactions of the quartet. Add the fine compositions (with an emphasis on the melodical and lyrical aspects) and you get a beautiful and very impressive album. Progressive rock fans and guitar enthusiasts need to hear this !! Highly recommended.

Breaking the Cycle
The notes come to your ears as if they were from the hand of God. If there is music in Heaven, this has to be what it sounds like.

The Examiner – Roger Reis
The interaction between guitarist Dani Rabin, and saxophonist Danny Markovitch is magical. Marbin is pulling the most sensitive melodies from the deepest parts of their soul, and it’s up to the listener to allow the music to reach the same areas within.

“Breaking The Cycle” is an excellent album. The combination of impressive musicianship and beautiful, melodic compositions is stunning: great melodies and great improvisations. It’s like they have never done anything else. I love it.

If this new group Marbin is indeed indicative of what MoonJune identifies as a “recently surging Israeli-grown jazz scene”, then we’re in for some fusion good times, boys and girls. Slammin.
FAME – Mark S. Tucker
Breaking The Cycle combines great melodies with deep rhythmic foundation and evocative environments, providing a record that the more you hear the more like it and more elements of enjoyment are discovered.
