Jessy Johnsen’s music is a must and exists in the live experience. Being a part of that experience is consistently a unique one and never without the satisfaction of, “that was real”. If you don’t go see live music anymore, Jessy Johnsen will break you of that habit. A Jefferson City native, Jessy is no stranger to the stage, having performed since age 17. Bringing a plethora of originals and her unique twist to covers, Jessy presents her music with soul, humor and wit. Performing her solo act weekly at The Mission for over two years to opening for Three Dog Night earlier this summer, we could not be more excited about this project.
Nate White is a guitarist and songwriter who has collaborated with many regional artists as well as musicians abroad. He strives to play in such a way to serve the song and to put spirit in the room. Nate is a rock guitarist with eccentric tastes who likes the diversity and spontaneity of playing with Jessy Johnsen and Caiman Soul.
Alan Loshbaugh was born in San Francisco, and moved to St Louis in 1971. He’s lived in Columbia Missouri since 1979. Equally proficient on upright and electric, he’s worked in literally every genre he could get a paycheck out of. From blue grass to dixieland; orchestral pits to stadium stages; Alan can most typically can be found working in jazz/blues and rock formatted bands. Typically, his services are in use by 4 or 5 groups of various sorts at any one time; he’s a bass-a-holic who’d rather be working than sleeping.
Jake Hanselman, with over 20 years professional experience, has played and recorded with numerous artists throughout the region. His love of jazz and soul comes through in his playing and he prides himself on ‘the pocket’. He keeps busy with a variety of styles, from blues, to fusion, and is a current in-demand session player in the region. His role in The Jessy Johnsen Band is to lay down a foundation upon which Jessy and other musicians build her signature sound. To play with Jessy Johnsen means shifting gears from ballads to blues, from hard to heart-felt, and wailing to wistful.
