BILL MORLAN: First influences with the Blues began in the 70’s for Bill. Visiting local Des Moines clubs to see Freddie King, Willie Dixon and Son Seals, it didn’t take long to realize it was his goal to not only learn, but to play those tunes he listened so intently to. Bill’s passion for the Blues has been a driving force for this native Iowan who now calls Kansas City his home. With approximately 40 years experience, Bill has captivated many audiences with his energetic and enthusiastic performances. He can inject a “healthy dose” of Blues bass lines, vocals and attitude in any project he is involved in.

Bill’s first of many “Blues” experiences in Kansas City was playing with KC Brass & Electric for two years. In 1997, they had the opportunity to open The Kansas City Spirit Fest featuring : BB King, Jay Geils /Magic Dick, Jimmy Vaughan and Robert Cray & the Memphis Horns. They were in the opening act for Duke Robillard at the Grand Emporium in 1998. Bill also played on KC Brass & Electric’s first CD “Dangerous Pleasure”.

In 1999, he joined Blue Shoe Sole Review and appeared on their CD released the same year. He has been in the opening act for Roomful of Blues on more than one occasion.

In more recent years, Bill has had the opportunity to share the stage at many festivals with the likes of Joe Bonamassa, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials, Tommy Castro, and many, many more!

Bill and his wife, June, live on the outskirts of Kansas City. They own “Greenback Hill”, a recording studio…..and in their spare time, restore old Volvos and go kayaking (wherever they can find enough water to float the boats). Now figure that one out!

BRANDON SKEENS: Brandon is no stranger to the stage! He has played around and beyond the Kansas City area for many years. Some of his early ventures were playing with the great Lawrence Wright in Kansas City, later on played with Scotty & the Soultones, and various other bands. He was also part owner of Low Key Recording studio in Blue Springs, and also mastered three of the Doghouse Daddies previous CD’s!

He has been playing with the Doghouse Daddies now for going on three years…..yep he started with us when he was 12 (no not really). He may be young, but he is an amazingly talented guitar player! He has some licks that you won’t believe and he’s played some blazing soloes that could nealy knock you off a bar stool.

It is definitely a treat to have Brandon in the Doghouse Daddies band. He has certainly injected his own style and energy in to an already great band!

NEIL NOLAN:If you haven’t heard of Neil Nolan, you probably haven’t been around Kansas City for long. Neil has been a life long resident of Kansas City and has been in the music scene for most of that time! Playing Tenor Saxaphone, Alto Saxophone and Harmonica, Neil’s tasty tone keeps you wanting more.

Neil started playing in clubs in the early 1980’s, with many groups, such as Blues Express, Chain of Fools, Blue Reign, a Duo with Dan Bliss, Scotty & The Soultones, Platinum Express, and the Soul Shakin’ Blues Band….just to name a few! He also played in the band KC Brass & Electric along with Doghouse Daddies bassist, Bill Morlan. In 1995 KC Brass & Electric won the Kanas City Blues Society Blues Challenge and represented Kansas City at the finals at the International Blues Contest in Memphis. They also recorded two CD’s, ‘Dangerous Pleasure’ and ‘Tell Me What You Want’. Wayne Jackson, of the legendary Memphis Horns was Executive Producer for, and played on, ‘Tell Me What you Want’.

KC Brass horn section had the opportunity to record with King Alex and the Untouchables on two CD’s, ‘Hot as a Coffee Pot’ and ‘Sugar Bowl’. KC Brass also accompanied King Alex & the Untouchable to Utrecht, Holland, where they played the Blues Esteftte festival in 1996.

It is with sincere pleasure that we welcome Neil as the most recent addition to the Doghouse Daddies band!

GREG SCHABERG:We call Greg “The Mechanic”, because he has such a complete mastery of the drums he can approach playing with the precision of a master mechanic. Like his brother Gharett starting out in school at age 10, Greg went on to study music in college at the U M K C conservatory. His professional career began in 1974 playing with, as he says “too many bands to mention”. In recent years Greg has worked with Fast Johnny, Dan Doran, Big John & the 39th street blues band, The Nortons, and Johnny I and the Receders.

Greg has had the opportunity to play at the Monterey Blues festival, in Monterey California, and done show openings for Mitch Rider, Dr. Hook, David Clayton Thomas, Commander Cody, and Jimmy Vaughn.

Greg is a welcome, and superlative addition to the DOGHOUSE DADDIES band!
